Donald Ross

Executive Chairman

Donald Ross became the Chairman of Leede during 2015 as a result of the merger between Leede Financial Markets and Jones, Gable & Company Ltd. His career in the investment industry began over 60 years ago with HSBC, and he was Chairman and CEO of Jones, Gable & Company Ltd. Donald was educated at Upper Canada College, Lakefield College, and Trinity College, University of Toronto. He serves on the board of Lakefield College School Foundation. Donald was awarded the Order of Canada in 2012.

Gord Medland

Chairman

Gord Medland is the Chairman of Leede Financial Inc., and has over 40 years of experience in the securities industry. In past years he has been a director of the Canadian Securities Institute (The Canadian Securities Education arm), the Canadian Investors Protection Fund, the Investment Dealers Association of Canada (now CIRO), the Canadian National Stock Exchange, the Vancouver Stock Exchange (past Vice-Chairman), and numerous private companies.

J. Victor Taboika

Deputy Chairman

J. Victor Taboika has been in the investment industry since 1980 formerly as a director of McDermid St. Lawrence and as Vice Chairman of Listings at the Alberta Stock exchange in the 1990s. He was instrumental in the founding of the recapitalized Leede in 2002. Born in Sherbrooke Quebec Victor attended Bishop’s College School, McGill University and was a Killam Scholarship winner and teaching assistant at Queen’s University. Victor continues to be a consultant to the film and television business on historical matters. He is a member of the Union Club of Victoria and the Royal Canadian Military Institute in Toronto.

Jim Dale

Chief Executive Officer

Jim Dale is the Chief Executive Officer and has been with the firm for over 20 years, beginning in the role of Chief Financial Officer. Jim currently serves as an advisor on several investment industry committees including the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization, the Alberta Securities Commission, and the Canadian Depository for Securities. Jim is also on the board of the Canadian Stock Exchange and recently founded and chairs the Independent Dealers lobbying efforts through the Canadian Independent Finance and Innovation Counsel.  In the community, Jim is past board chairman of both Lindsay Park Sport Society and Westside Regional Recreation Society which operate two premier Calgary sport and recreation facilities. Prior to joining the Leede, Jim worked in the oil and gas industry in a variety of senior management roles in finance, procurement and commodity risk management. Jim began his career with a national accounting firm where he obtained his Chartered Accountant (CPA) designation.

Steve Johnson

President

Steve Johnson is the President of Leede and has been with the firm since 2007. Prior to assuming his current role, he served as an Investment Advisor, Portfolio Manager, and Branch Manager—always with a focus on enhancing both the client and advisor experience. As President, Steve continues to actively manage client portfolios and represents Leede on CIRO’s Pacific Regional Council.

Adam Conrad

Chief Financial Officer & VP Finance

Adam Conrad is Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Leede Financial Inc., where he has held progressive leadership roles since joining the firm in 2014. He brings disciplined financial oversight and a measured, forward-thinking approach to the firm’s operational strategy. Adam is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and serves on the Executive Committee of the Financial and Operations Advisory Section (FOAS). He also chairs the Alberta Jubilee Auditoria Society and holds both CPA and legacy CA designations.

John Breen

Chief Compliance Officer

John has been in the investment industry since 1993, beginning his career with CIBC and working for other large financial institutions before moving to IIROC as a senior examiner. Since 2011, John has focused on compliance for independent investment dealers. John is currently A member of the CIRO’s Alberta Advisor Committee, John holds a BA in economics from Laurentian University.

OUR HISTORY

Leede Financial Inc. is the product of two respected firms coming together with a shared vision. In 2015, Leede Financial Markets Inc. and Jones, Gable and Company Limited merged to form Leede Jones Gable Inc. In 2024, we proudly reintroduced ourselves as Leede Financial Inc.—a name that reflects our renewed focus and national presence.

 

Leede’s roots go back to 1987, when Rogers & Partners Securities Inc. was founded as a regional brokerage in Calgary. A shift in ownership in 2001 led to the creation of Leede Financial Markets Inc., marking the start of an ambitious westward expansion. With offices opening in Vancouver, Kamloops, Brandon, and Red Deer, and a strong management team in place, Leede quickly earned a reputation as one of Western Canada’s leading independent investment dealers.

 

Jones, Gable and Company Limited brought its own legacy to the merger. Founded in Toronto in 1965, the firm built a national footprint over five decades, with offices in Vancouver, Montreal, Fredericton, Charlottetown, and throughout Ontario. Known for delivering exceptional client service and supporting companies in accessing capital markets.
